At the southern tip, where the two oceans meet

The Kaptuetagne editorial office sits in Boshoffland, a short drive from the lighthouse and the tidal pools we write about each season. Visitors are welcome by appointment, and the walking guide series can be collected directly from the office during working hours.

Getting here

From Cape Town

Take the N2 towards Caledon, then follow the R316 through Napier to Struisbaai. From Struisbaai, continue along the coastal road towards the lighthouse. The office is about 15 minutes past the harbour.

From the Agulhas National Park

Head north from the park entrance along the main road through the fynbos flats. Look for the Boshoffland turnoff after the salt marsh boardwalk. Parking is available at the office.

By public transport

The daily bus from Cape Town stops in Struisbaai. From there, a local shuttle runs to the lighthouse and Boshoffland during summer months. Winter schedules are limited, so call ahead.

The office is closed on public holidays. Tide table printouts and back issues are available at the front desk.

Response times

Email queries are answered within two working days. Phone messages are returned the same day when possible, or the next morning if we are in the field. Postal correspondence may take longer, as we collect mail weekly.

Before you write

For tide table corrections or trail updates, include the issue number and page reference. For story tips, a short paragraph with the location and a contact number helps us respond faster. Common questions about subscriptions and delivery are covered in the FAQ section.

Office hours

Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30
Friday 08:00 – 14:00
Saturday – Sunday Closed

The office follows the school holiday calendar for the Western Cape. During the December print run, we keep shorter hours and reply to emails in batches.

Field correspondents

For sightings of shipwreck debris after a storm, unusual bird activity on the salt marsh trails, or photographs of the lighthouse in rough weather, you can reach the field team directly at the same telephone number. If you are calling from Struisbaai or the surrounding farms, we will often be out walking the dune boardwalks and may take a little longer to pick up.
